Bishop Brennan wishes to announce the following. Duties at St Leonards will be undertaken by parish priest Fr William Byrne in Ballyculla­ne. Fr Michael Doyle will take up residence in Wexford as Chaplain to Wexford General Hospital. Both posts are effective from January 1.

GAA DINNER DANCE

Gusserane GAA will hold their dinner dance and medal presentati­on night in Whites Hotel on Saturday, January 13. Tickets are €35 and are in big demand. TINTERN LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner and no match-three winner in the Tintern lotto last week. The numbers drawn were 3, 18, 25 and 26. Next week’s jackpot will be €3,650 and next week’s match-three winners will share €400. The draw next week will take place on Wednesday, December 27, at 9 p.m. Tickets on sale in all local shops and from committee members.

SYMPATHY

The people of the parish would like to sympatise with our parish priest Fr Doyle on the death of his brother Seán this week. We also would like to wish him a continuous recovery as he is sadly missed by all and hopefully in 2018 we will see him back in parish.

CHURCH DOOR

In an effort to maintain better heat and comfort in the church it has been decided to close the main door for the winter months during Mass times on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. Entry will be through the side door (scar door) and the tower door if necessary. We thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

GALA CELEBRATIO­N

St Anne’s GAA would like to take this opportunit­y to wish all its members a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year. We would like to thank you for your exceptiona­l support both on and off the field in 2017, in what can only be described as a brilliant year for our club.

Off the field we had our Walkathon on the August Bank Holiday weekend which was a most enjoyable event. On the field our intermedia­te hurlers made an immediate return back to the senior hurling ranks by winning the intermedia­te title and our ladies’ footballer­s had their most successful year to date by winning the clubs first ever senior football title.

To mark such a great year the club would like to invite all members and non-members from the parish and further afield to wine, dine and celebrate with us at our ‘Gala Celebratio­n Night’ at the Talbot Hotel Wexford on Saturday, January 27, at 7 p.m. Music on the night will be by the fantastic Corner Boy in what is sure to be a most enjoyable night.
