BALLYCOGLEY HALL

The Hall Development Committee wish to thank all those who supported our Jingle Jog run which took place on Sunday, December 17. We had a good attendance and Santa was on his bike to lead the walk and provided lots of excitement for the children. We also want to thank all those who sponsored prizes for the raffle on the day, and the people who helped in various ways to prepare the hall and cater on the day. We made €640 from the event.

We wish to thank the Killinick Harriers for organising a fundraising event in aid of the hall in October which raised €5,000 and also the Bargy Vintage Group, who contributed €3,000 to the hall fund from their fundraising events this year.

A lot of progress has been made in the hall, thanks to a lot of people who have given their time to help with the work. We’re looking forward to 2018 to progress the project and to your continued support for our fundraising.

We wish everyone a happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous 2018.

FOOTBALL

Mid winter is surely not the time to play a semi-final of any championship but this was the case when Forth and Bargy Gales took on Starlights in the semi-final of the under-21 B football championships.

Tagoat was the venue where Starlights easily accounted for the home side on a scoreline of 1-08 to 0-04 a scoreline that would have been so different had both sides taken their chances.

This was a game of two halves with the homeside dominating the first but the failure to take its chances saw them take a slender lead 0-04 to 0-02 into the second half a half in which Starlights dominated but also failed to take their chances.

Although this game was a tight affair for the first 10 minutes of this half it was then that Starlights took control and ran out easy winners.
