Four beautiful babies arrived on Christmas Day

-

FOUR BABIES were born at Wexford General Hospital on Christmas Day, giving their families the perfect gift for the festive season.

The first baby born was to Rawan Aimeshael, whose son Mohamed arrived at 1.36 a.m. Weighing seven lbs, one oz, Mohamed and family are home and doing well after the festive birth.

Kiera Byrne, from the Old Road in Tinahely was next when she gave birth to baby Nathan at 3.58 a.m. Weighing seven lbs, 13 oz, he is her and Anthony Farrell’s first child and he arrived three days early, much to the surprise of his parents.

Kiera said: ‘We half expected to get into the New Year with him but others were talking about different dates because it would suit him better when it came to playing underage GAA!’

So far, Nathan has not tested his lungs too much and parents Kiera and Anthony were able to celebrate Christmas Day on St Stephen’s Day when they came home from the hospital.

‘It was not how we expected Christmas Day to be but there was great excitement.’

Nicole Kavanagh Sidney, from Hunter’s Green in Gorey, welcomed her first child Sophia to the world at 7.26 a.m. Weighing six lb, four oz, Sophia had been due on Christmas Day so Nicole was well prepared.

‘I knew it was a girl before going in and she was right on time. She’s doing well - she’s sleeping grand and getting the bottle down so all is well.’

She said she looked forward to an extra special celebration in 2018 of Sophia’s birthday and Christmas.

Michelle Nolan and Declan Byrne from Inch, Blackwater welcomed their second baby Robyn when she arrived at 9 a.m. on Christmas Day. The couple’s second child, their first daughter Holly was born in December of last year, and will also be well looked after by Declan’s three sons.

‘We haven’t had the turkey yet!’ Declan joked, pointing out that Robyn, who weighed seven lbs, seven oz, had been 11 days late. ‘We were due to go into the hospital on Christmas evening but the baby decided that morning that she wanted to come on Christmas Day!’

Robyn, he said, was in great form and all of the family had enjoyed a very different Christmas Day.
