County Wexford hurler Conor McDonald from The Rock in Gorey hopes to open a small studio gym in the New Year in Naomh Eanna GAA complex.

Conor has just returned from England after spending three months in a gym to gain some experience for when he opens up in January.

‘It won’t be like your normal gym where you sign up for membership,’ said Conor. ‘It will be a small studio where I will do some personal one-to-one training with clients.’

He said the time spent in England was different, but he really enjoyed it. ‘It was a nice break away from what I would do on a day-to-day basis here,’ added Conor.

The talented athlete said he had many great highlights during the year, both in his sporting and personal life.

‘It was a great hurling year for Wexford,’ said Conor. ‘ We beat Kilkenny twice, but to beat them on our home ground in Wexford Park was just brilliant.’

The full-forward hurler said ‘ to get to the Leinster Final and to play in front of 60,000 people was massive for us’.

‘As part of my New Year resolutions, I hope to keep pushing with what we are doing with regard to Wexford hurling as we did pretty well last year,’ said Conor.

Conor said he was happy to hear Davy Fitzgerald is staying on for another year and ‘ hopes to have another good go at it again for next year’.

‘My main focus and resolution for 2018 is the gym,’ said Conor. ‘I just hope I get it up and running very soon, and then I can help other people with their resolutions.’
