Boots relocates to former Dunnes premises in Wexford

-

BOOTS recently relocated its Wexford premises to the former Dunnes shop on South Main Street.

The new store, which is managed by Eileen O’Leary, employs a total of 15 people and at 380m2, offers almost 130m2 of extra space compared with the previous Wexford store in the former Greenacres premises at the Bullring.

Commenting on the store opening, Eileen O’Leary said the newly-relocated Boots store will provide the local residents in Wexford with even more access to our wide range of pharmacy, pharmacy services and health and beauty products.

‘We are looking forward to welcoming customers into our new store,’ said Eileen, with the store attracting large numbers of customers and those out for some window shopping following the opening.

Boots closed its former premises at the Bullring, where it had been based since late 2004, before moving into the new premises which it had refitted over the past few months.

Wexford Chamber has welcomed the revitalisation of the heart of the town with the Boots’ move the former Dunnes premises, which had been a blight on the town for more than a decade. but said it would like to see the former Greenacres store - owned by businessman James O’Connor - occupied as soon as possible.

In a bid to move things on, the county council began looking for rates from Dunnes for the empty store last year, and this appears to have been a prime mover in the supermarket giant enabling the Boots’ deal.

The new store at 9-13 South Main Street, will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 8.30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Thursday 8.30 a.m. - 8pm; Friday 8.30 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
