The St Fintan’s GAA lotto now stands at €7,600 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match-three prize of €200 up for grabs each week, with the next draw taking place early in the new year. Many thanks for your continued support. The club would like to wish all our supporters a very prosperous New Year.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

This year the Seniors Christmas party will be held in Danby Lodge Hotel on Sunday afternoon, January 7. Further details later. Tickets will be distribute­d nearer to Christmas. Raffle tickets for the parish council Christmas raffle will be on sale in the coming weeks. The proceeds help to fund the party and your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

ALTAR SOCIETY

Set up some 46 years ago the Mayglass altar society honoured two of its long serving members at the annual Christmas dinner held in Whitford House Hotel. Breda Sinnott Mayglass daughter of founding member Kathleen Murphy has served 30 years and her good friend Ella O’Brien has served 20 years and both are committed to carry on.

The society has nine active members and they make sure that the church is kept clean and fresh flowers are supplied all on a voluntary basis. Congratula­tions, ladies.

PROUD PARENTS

Jim Staples formerly of Cregg, Ballycogle­y and his good wife Stasia are the proud parents of Sarah, who travelled to San Diego, California some four years ago where she set up her own business Staples-Fitness. Her mission isto teach people how to care for their posture, improve muscle strenght and their overall fitness. We wish her good luck in her venture.

The clubs wish to extend their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of those who passed away during 2017, may they rest in peace. The clubs wish you all a very happy and peaceful 2018.

DRAMA

With the Christmas festivitie­s over and a New Year just begun the Ballycogle­y Players are looking forward to getting back rehearsing its three-act play the Night Alive by Conor McPherson for the upcoming confined section of three act drama inwhich the group will perform at eight of these qualifying festivals. The group would like to once again thank fellow groups and loyal supporters for their help and support and to wish you all a very happy and peaceful 2018.
