THE EPIPHANY

Next Saturday, January 6, is the feast of the Epiphany and is a Holyday of Obligation. It’s also known as Little Christmas or Nollaig Na mBan and is a day for women to take a rest and for men to do the work.

Duncannon Mass times, for the holyday, are as follows: Vigil Mass on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. Weekend Masses are at the normal times of: Saturday Vigil 7 p.m., Sunday at 9an and 11 a.m.

FIRST FRIDAY

Friday next is the First Friday of January and Fr John will make the usual calls on Friday morning. If you need him to call to you or yours please let him know before Friday. His number is 087 6746799.

BEREAVEMEN­TS

Our sincere sympathies are extended to the families of Eddie Kehoe, Summit Place, Duncannon and Beda Dwyer, Church Road, Duncannon, both of whom died and were buried during the past week. A sad occasion at any time: but especially at this time of year. May they both rest in peace. Amen.

Bingo will be held at the Strand Tavern every Friday at 9 p.m. All proceeds will go to Duncannon National School.

A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

There will be a primary schools chess tournament in Brandon House Hotel, New Ross, on January 13. All players are welcome to come along. More details later. will be concentrat­ing on land and seascapes. six classes at €20 per two-hour session and includes all equipment and materials.

KILMORE AC

Thanks to all our volunteers and participan­ts today for making our Parish Mile an enjoyable event. We saw some speedy performers from both junior and senior athletes.

There was strong attendance of all ages and abilities and a good range of prizes too. Hope to see you all back at training again soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

This correspond­ent would like to wish all readers a Happy New Year and also a healthy one. I would like to thank all who sent in notes last year and hopefully will continue for 2018. CUSHINSTOW­N BINGO

Don’t forget the monthly bingo on the first Sunday of every month. This will be held in the Horse and Hound and is held in aid of St Mary’s Church Cushinstow­n.

TERRERATH BINGO

Bingo is on every Wednesday in Terrerath Community Centre at 8 p.m. We would like to thank everyone who supports this event and are always looking more newcomers.

CLOTHES COLLECTION

Terrerath Community Centre are to hold a clothes bag collection in early January, dates to be decided. We would love everyone to support this cause in aid of NCBI (which supports people with sight loss).
