Man (89) missing from Kilmore

-

GARDAÍ are appealing for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of an 89-year-old man from Kilmore.

William Busher was last seen on Thursday, January 4, in the Kilmore Quay area and reported missing by family members a day later.

‘The gardai, the RNLI, and the Coast Guard have been doing full searches and the air support unit is out at the moment having a look,’ said Inspector Denis Whelan.

‘Given Mr Busher’s age we would have concerns at this stage. It’s out of character,’ said Insp Whelan, however, he said that due to his age and medication, the 89-year-old had suffered from confusion in the past.

He is described as approximately 5ft 10ins in height, of medium build and short grey hair. It is unknown what he was wearing when reported missing, but he drives a 141-WX-1771-registered brown Nissan Qashqai which is also missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardaí at Wexford on 053 9165200 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111.

In 2013, Busher was convicted in Wexford Circuit Court of sex-ualy assaulting two of his nieces 35 years apart, having been told what he did was ‘wicked’.

‘You selected two young girls and you deviled them and caused them pain and suffering, to the extent they would not accept your apology,’ the Judge said to William Busher, of Bally-cleary, Kilmore, at the sentencing hearing at Wexford Circuit Court at the time.

Busher had pleaded guilty at an earlier sitting to six charges of sexual assault on his niece Maire Busher, now aged 22, between 1997 and 2003. He also admitted four counts of indecent assault on another niece, Margaret Sills, between 1968 and 1971.

Both victims waived their right to anonymity so that the offender could be named.

In passing sentence, Judge Barry Hickson told the defendant that the two victims were two women of bravery, courage and integrity, who had given heartfelt victim impact reports. Their courage and integrity showed through, he said.
