-

Elderly people in the New Ross area benefited from an anonymous donation of firewood to help them over the Christmas period.

Organised by New Ross Lions Club with Wexford County Council the donated firewood was a great help to older people during the festive period.

Two pallets of firewood were donated to the Lions Club by an anonymous donor who then contacted the New Ross Meals to distribute the wood to those most in need in the area.

The firewood was then distributed to the relevant homes with the assistance of staff members of the New Ross Municipal District who made the deliveries.

President of New Ross Lions Club Myles Courtney said: ‘Following on a generous donation to our club by an anonymous donor New Ross Lions Club liaised with New Ross Meals on Wheels and New Ross Municipal District staff for the distribution of two pallets of firewood to elderly persons in the locality.

‘We are delighted to link up with the hard working New Ross Meals on Wheels in identifying recipients and sincerely thank the staff of New Ross Municipal District who assisted in the distribution of the firewood.’
