Beekeepers Springlecture
The New Ross Beekeepers Association are buzzing about their Spring lecture on Tuesday, February 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Corcoran’s pub Irishtown. The guest speaker is Ben Harden who has a raft of beekeeping qualifications and has a well known beekeeping supply business. His topic will be ‘Hive Management for the control of disease’. All interested parties are welcome.
Activeretired
The New Ross Active Retirement Association are having their monthly meeting ths Friday at 10.30 a.m. in the Youth Centre, Nunnery Lane, New Ross. Subscriptions are now due, costing €25 for the year. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Potter Day
New Ross Library service will be celebrating World Harry Potter Day in the library on Friday. A fun packed evening themed around Fantastic Beasts is taking place. The wonder of J.K. Rowling’s stories will be shared and, most excitingly, introducing the next generation of readers to the magic of Harry Potter. Booking is essential as places are limited. To book phone: 051 421877.
eClinic time
An eCclinic with New Ross Library Staff takes place this Friday at New Ross Library at 10.30 a.m.
Attendees will learn of the amazing range of eResources available through the library.
These include Borrowbox, RB Digital Magazines, Mango Languages, Proquest, Universal Class and the new music downloading service Freegal. If you would like help with these resources or with placing holds and renewing your books online, then library staff will be on hand to help you at their new eClinic. This clinic will take place on the first Friday morning of every month from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. All are welcome, please bring your library card with you.

Taizéprayer
Taizé Prayer is a meditative candle-lit service that centers around prayer, music and silence, to quiet the mind, open the heart and feed the soul from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. during Lent, commencing February 16 and
continuing every Friday, concluding with ‘Prayer Around The Cross’ on Good Friday, March 30 in Good Counsel College Chapel, New Ross.
HookCeltic firefestival
The first Celtic Imbolc Festival is about to be celebrated at Hook Lighthouse this weekend. On Friday evening, Brian Kennedy will host a unique concert.
On Saturday, February 3, is a sunrise tour of the lighthouse at 7 a.m. In the afternoon storyteller Baya Salmon-Hawk – assisted by Captain Hook – will offer free story telling sessions for children telling ancient Celtic tales from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On Saturday evening at 5 p.m., ‘A Fire in the Head’ spoken word event will commence. On Sunday a Celtic Goddess Ceremony takes place At 12 noon.

Freefilm workshops
County Wexford Youth Film Project has announced a series of filmmaking workshops in the coming year.
These are open and free to all teenagers across County Wexford and include drama, music, documentary and animation.
A three-day animation workshop takes place during the February midterm break in St. Michael’s Theatre, New Ross.
The workshops are funded by St Michael’s Theatre and the Arts Department of Wexford County Council and are designed to promote filmmaking in County Wexford amongst teenagers.

StCanice’s enrolment
The closing date for receipt of enrolments for Junior Infants 2018 in St. Canice’s National School, Rosbercon, is Tuesday, February 6. .

Smartphone librarycourse
A Smartphone course is starting in New Ross Library on Wednesday, January 31. It runs every Wednesday from 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. for five weeks. The dates are as follows: Wednesdays, January 31, February 7, February 14, February 21 and February 28 from 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.
Carers’ support
Carers’ support groups meet in New Ross and Ramsgrange. The New Ross group meets on the second Monday of every month at 10.30 a.m. in the Healthy Living Centre at 10.30 a.m. The Ramsgrange group meets on the first Wednesday of evey month.
The general support group at 2 p.m. at St Louis Day Care Centre in Ramsgrange.
Readinggroup
An adult reading group meets on the second Tuesday of every month in New Ross Library at 6 p.m. to discuss popular and literary fiction in a pleasant and friendly environment. For more information phone 051 421877.

Shanbogh National School is currently accepting applications for the school year 2018 to 2019.

Creative writinggroup
A creative writing group meets at New Ross Library on the last Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at New Ross Library. New members are always welcome. The next meeting is tonight, January 23.
Toddlers’ storytime
Toddlers’ story time takes place every Friday at 11.30 a.m. Parents are invited to bring their babies and toddlers to New Ross Library for fun and stimulating stories, rhymes and play.
ScrabbleClub
A Scrabble Club takes place at New Ross Library every Friday at 3.30 p.m. The scrabble club invites new members at any skill level and is a great way to improve your language and spelling in a relaxed and not too competitive an atmosphere.
CVupskill preparation
A class on CV and interview preparation is being held today (Tuesday, January 30), in New Ross Library. Join Alan Maher, of Maher Business Consultants, in New Ross Library at 7 p.m. for great tips on how to stand out from the crowd when applying for a new job or promotion.
Rathgarogue/ Cushinstown GAAnews
Rathgarogue/Cushinstown GAA club have announced that Paudie Butler (former Natoinal Head of Hurling) is coming to the Horse & Hound on Friday at 7.30 p.m. where he willl be giving a talk entitled ‘Developing confident, competent kids’. This is an excellent talk with relevance beyond the GAA. Following the talk the club will be launching its new Memberslotto.
The club would like to congratulate James Bolger who recently received a Seana Gheal award for his contribution to Wexford GAA. ‘Well done James, a very well deserved recipient.’
Rathgarogue/Cushinstown GAA club are having their registration night on Thursday, February 8, in the Horse & Hound from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Anyone who wishes for their children to play with the club this season can come along on the night to register. All new players are welcome.
In a bid to make exercise more accessible on the dark winter nights, ‘Ireland Lights Up’ will see Rathgarogue/Cushinstown GAA club turn on our floodlights between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. each Monday for the next four weeks. The club invite everyone; parents, grandparents, children and friends to join us on these weekly walks and help keep our community healthy.
