Storm makes group face music but Top show goes on

-

DUE to Storm Emma the opening night of Top Hat at St Michael’s Theatre had to be changed from Monday night to tonight (Tuesday).

The show now runs every night up until, and including, this Sunday, at 8 p.m. nightly at the theatre.

This is New Ross Musical Society 50th consecutive production and to mark the occasion they are bringing some Hollywood glamour to the New Ross stage. An uplifting and entertaining romantic comedy celebrating 1930s song, style and romance, Top Hat features 14 of Irving Berlin’s most loved songs. These include some of his greatest hits such as ‘Cheek to Cheek’, ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ and ‘Let’s Face the Music & Dance”. Top Hat is a cross between Strictly Come Dancing and old Hollywood glamour, a group spokesperson said.

The production is directed by Derek Shannon, along with choreography by Anne-Marie Cooney and musical director Philip Kennedy, with a cast led by James Dobbs as Jerry Travers, Éilish Coady as Dale Tremont, Derek Shannon as Horace Hardwick, Teresa Buckley as Madge Hardwick, Keith Flanagan as Alberto Beddini and Sean O’Brien as Bates. This will be a fantastic night’s entertainment with a local cast. Tickets are still available from St Michaels Theatre, New Ross.
