Baya, who lives in Glenmore, said International Women’s Day celebrates the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women across the globe. But far from singling out women, the day focuses on unity, equality and advocacy.

She will tell how Helen of Ireland may have started the Normans’ Invasion. Eva The Red will explain how it all took place and what happened to her little daughter Isabelle. Baya said: ‘We will cheer the courage of the women who built the Maiden Gate and the Maidens Tower and wonder if Rose, that chaste and very wealthy widow, really paid for the stones. We will celebrate the courage of Mary Doyle who died during the battle of New Ross in 1798 and of all of the other women who fought in the streets that day. Finally, we will remember Margaret whose book went through 11 editions and was published in three languages!’

Wine and cheese will be served in the Café & Barista Bar
