Easter Arts and Crafts Class – Easter Arts and Crafts Class in Ballymitty Hall, taking place over two days, Sunday, March 18, and Saturday, March 24, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Decorate a Vintage Birdcage and learn how to decoupage eggs and candles for Easter and upcycle jars. €20 to cover cost of materials (incl. Birdcage). Take home your crafts for Easter. STUDY CENTRE

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

It’s time to get working on your float for the annual Carrig-on-Bannow St Patrick’s Day parade, taking place at 2 p.m. on March 17. If you participat­ed in last year’s parade we would like to thank you and we also extend an invitation to join us for this year’s parade. We welcome all businesses, community groups and others. DANCING

Dancing continues in Tír na nÓg every Thursday night from 9 p.m. in aid of Ballymitty handball club with music this Thursday, March 8, by Southbound; March 15 – no dance; March 17 St Patrick’s night – Dick and Ted; March 22 – Michael Ellard; March 29 – Tom Power the Latchico Man from Westmeath. Note: There are bigger dance bands appearing on the last Thursday of every month. Adm €7 all welcome refreshmen­ts served.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The winner of this week’s split-the-pot was Margaret Bowe Campile, who won €648. Congratula­tions. Gusserane pulled away leaving the final score Gusserane 2-8 v 0-2 for Clongeen.

All last weekends Wexford League Ladies’ football games were cancelled due to the weather as you’d expect. The fixtures committee will revert with new dates in due course. Finally, please remember to get your registrati­ons completed as soon as possible.

LGFA ALL STARS

Due to weather conditions at the weekend the Wexford South semi-final of Wexford LGFA All Stars has been postponed to Friday, March 23, at 8 p.m. in the Horse and Hound Ballinaboo­la.

EASTER RAFFLE

The Clongeen Ladies’ GAA Club would like the support of the parish in one of our main fundraiser­s of the year – the Easter Raffle. You can buy lines for only €2 each from players and in various locations in the parish i.ePost office, Anne and Markies shop etc. There are some great prizes on offer from our kind sponsors who are: Anne and Markies shop, Aroma Beauty, Foxe Hair, Paddy Reville. QUIZ NIGHT

The recently formed Little Sea Musical Society are holding a quiz night in Tír na nÓg in Wellngtonb­ridge on Tuesday, March 27, starting 8.30 p.m. All are more than welcome to attend a guaranteed fun night out so we look forward to seeing you there.

VINTAGE CLUB

Dates have been set for 2018 as follows: on Sunday, March 25, we will hold the Christy Purcell Memorial Road Run. Then on Saturday, June 30 – Sunday, July 1, we will hold our members road run to Clonmel. This will be followed on Sunday, September 16, when we will hold our all vehicle road run.

For the Christy Purcell Memorial Road Run, will be held on Sunday, March 25, registrati­on will commence in Foulksmill­s from 11.30 a.m. and leaving Foulksmill­s at 1 p.m. All vehicles, both new and old, are welcome on the day. There will be a hot dinner served in the Oak Tree Bar on our return. All proceeds will be donated to local charities.

50TH ANNIVERSAR­Y

On Sunday, May 27, Little Cullenstow­n church will celebrate its 50th anniversar­y with a special Mass at midday celebrated with the Bishop of Ferns, Denis Brennan. Light refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards in the marquee.

On Saturday, May 26, an American tea party will be hosted by the parishione­rs in the marquee. If you are interested in hosting a table or helping out in anyway, please contact Elaine at 086 3376865.

Clongeen NS Clongeen National School are now taking enrolments for September 2018. The deadline for an applicatio­n is March 17, just over two weeks away. BABIES/TODDLERS

Our friendly group is meeting every Wednesday from 9.30 a.m. till 11.30 a.m. in the Sunshine room in Clongeen National School. The group is open to anyone from the Clongeen and surroundin­g areas – for parents, grandparen­ts, guardians, childminde­rs, etc. are all welcome and of course don’t forget the little ones too, from babies to toddlers. The cost is only €4 per adult which includes refreshmen­ts for both the adults and children.

OVER-35S SOCCER

Another decent game was had last weekend when a dozen guys showed up for the weekly kick about. There were goals a plenty with Dessie taking the golden boot for the day. The Aprés Match meeting was poorly attended which is not that often, maybe they were gathering nuts for the snow-in which had been announced at that time but we look forward to the next game once the snow has cleared.

Games take place, as long as we can get there, each weekend on a Sat evening at 6 p.m. in Grantstown sports complex – please turn up 15 minutes in advance, not 15 minutes late. If any new comers would like to join, you’re more than welcome to come along. For further informatio­n, please feel free to give Dave a call at 086 8596627. The cost is only €5 per player and the craic is mighty.

The Ballyculla­ne NS 5/10k Run/walk will be takes place on Sunday, March 11, Starts at 10 a.m. Registrati­on opens 9 a.m. in the school Entry fee is €10 per adult, €5 for under-18 and €25 for family of four. All welcome.

ST GARVAN’S NS

St Garvan’s NS Caroreigh are now accepting applicatio­ns for enrolments for September 2018. These forms are available from the school office or by contacting Maura at 053 9134294. Forms are to be completed and returned to the school by March 23.

TAGHMON NS

St Fintan’s NS are now accepting applicatio­ns for enrolments of junior infants wishing to start in September 2018. Enrolment forms can be collected from the school office Monday to Friday between 9.30 a.m. and 3 p.m., and should be returned on or before March 1.

PASSION PLAY

Cast and choir now have full complement of performers and rehearsals are going exceptiona­lly well. Performanc­e dates are Palm Sunday, March 25, Tuesday, March 27, Good Friday, March 30, and Easter Sunday, April 1.

GAA CLUB AT THE RACES

Taghmon-Camross GAA Club are taking over the Wexford Races on St Patrick’s Day March 17. Save some money and buy your tickets in advance and support the club at the same time. Tickets are available from any of the club players and committee.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to the 21 artists who came along to take part in the Taghmon Area Art and Handwritin­g Competitio­ns on Saturday February 17 at Taghmon GAA Complex.

Thank you to Taghmon GAA for the use of their facilities and to Anne marie Nolan and Geraldine Doyle for undertakin­g the difficult task of judging the works of art. A big thank you to the parents for bringing the children along to take part.

Although not everyone can receive a medal placing, we hope that all the artists feel deservedly proud of themselves and keep up with the beautiful art and handwritin­g work.

Those placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd can go forward to take part in the County Art and Handwritin­g competitio­ns in Castlebrid­ge national school on 10th of March 2018. Times to follow.
