CELEBRATIO­N POSTPONED

The eagerly awaited Fethard St Mogue’s Celebratio­n dinner dance fell victim to the ‘Beast from the East’ last weekend. New provisiona­l date is now scheduled for Friday, March 23, in Brandon House Hotel, New Ross with music by Wrecking Ball followed by DJ Dinner will be at 8 p.m. followed by presentati­on of medals to our victorious Wexford and Leinster winning hurling team.

WEEKLY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s Club lotto jackpot of €4,100 so next week’s jackpot stands at €4,200. The winning numbers 1, 13, 24 and 30. The club two two match-three winners, Daniel Foley and Emily Carroll, who won €30 each.

SALTMILLS/ST KEARNS AGM

The Saltmills and St Kearns AGM will hold their AGM tonight, Tuesday, March 6, in the Colclough Memorial Hall. The defibrilla­tor is now in situ at the Vine Cottage Pub, Saltmills. A big thank you to all who fundraiser for this. Anyone interested in training to use it please contact the group via Facebook or leave name at the pub. Community survey results on display in the hall. Huge thank you to all who participat­ed. Split-the-pot draw on Sunday night in the Vine Cottage.

COISTE NA NÓG

Due to the bad weather last Friday Fethard St Mogue’s Coiste na nÓg will now hold its Player Registrati­on night on Friday, March 9, in St Mary’s Hall from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Registrati­on fees are as follows: €50 for one boy; €80 for family (2+ boys) and €20 for new boys aged 4, five or six who will begin with the clubs ‘Mogues Cul Og’ nursery. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the night, and new members are particular­ly welcome.

Our Mogues Cúl Óg Nursery program will run every Saturday morning at 11 a.m. from April 14 through to September. This is open for boys and girls of all abilities. The emphasis on this is for fun and games and to improve their natural physical abilities in a fun and non-pressurise­d environmen­t. No playing equipment is needed to start off either, we will provide all that is needed to get things up and running.

SOUP DAY

A Soup Day in aid of St Mary’s Church, Tintern restoratio­n fund will be held in Colclough Hall, Saltmills on Sunday, March 18, between 12 and 3 p.m. Ladies Golf Society

With temperatur­es of five degrees feeling like zero in a moderate breeze 32 Abbey Ladies golfers braved the cold and took to the Abbey Par three fairways on February 24. A fantastic turn out despite the bitter cold returned great scores. First Ann Banville (19) 36 points. Second Margaret Doyle (36) 36 points. Third Eileen Wallace (17) 35 points. Category one Bridget Duffin (22) 30 points. Category two Adeline Foxe (25) 34 points. Category three Anne Sutton/O’ Hanlon (34) 29 points. New Member winner (36) 28 points. Nearest the pin Nancy Colfer. Next outing Carriglead­e March 10 at 11 a.m.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Great things happen when a community comes together. Fethard-on-Sea’s St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Saturday, March 17, at 1.45 p.m. This year we are very proud to announce that the Grand Marshals of the parade will be our Féile Football and Hurling all-Ireland winning teams. Street entertainm­ent will begin at 1.30 p.m. Float Entry Forms available in Dillon’s Londis in Fethard-on-Sea. Any enquires contact Lorraine O’Leary or Irene O’Leary. The success of the parade is in your hands. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to Mary Boland, who was Saltmills and St Kearns Community Groups split-the-pot winner of €121 for February. Envelopes are available to purchase in Vine Cottage, Whelan’s Chipper and Fish Shop and shop in St Leonards. Next draw will take place on March 25.

FETHARD SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to Tina Molloy, who won €105 in this week’s split-the-pot (February 20). Envelopes for split-the-pot are available in the post office, Dillon’s, The Wheelhouse, Droopy’s, Molloy’s, Neville’s and the Tourist Office. Draw takes place every Tuesday. Thank you for your support.

PROGRESSIV­E 45

The winners of the Progressiv­e 45 Card Game in Colclough Hall, Saltmills last Sunday night were David Murphy, Georgie Foley and Siobhán Doyle. In second place Margaret Cullen, Jimmy Cullen and John Joe murphy. In third place were Sonny Cahill, Maura Cahill and Michael Murphy. The last game draw was won by Dave Walsh, Liam Power and Elish Breen. The raffle winners were Tommy Morrissey, Willie White and Siobhán Doyle.

PARISH DRAW

The winners of the February Parish Draw were, first prize Eileen Molloy, second prize Theresa Walshe, third prize Elaine Wallace. Thanks again to everyone who supports the draw.

An exciting job opportunit­y has become available in the Hook Peninsula. Two Beaches Environmen­tal Workers are required to monitor and maintain the cleanlines­s levels, including water pollution on the Hook Peninsula Beaches. Key tasks include visiting agreed beaches in the peninsula on a regular basis, monitoring cleanlines­s, water purity/pollution levels and clearing rubbish/debris as appropriat­e. Skills and Experience Required, An interest in the Hook Peninsula beaches, coastal area, coastal wildlife.
