-

TWO creative Ramsgrange Community School students have won a place in the national Junk Kouture finals in Dublin.

Evelyn Stebbing won a place in the finals in the 3Arena at a competition night held in The Helix on Thursday. Working with designer Laura Ryan, they came up with an African themed outfit made entirely of recyclable materials. It was among four Junk Kouture outfits created amd modelled by Ramsgrange Community School students who made it through to the eastern finals. Working with art teacher Avril Buttle, the Transition Year students began designing their creations in September, coming up with concept ideas. They worked in groups of three to finalise their works of art which are part of their Transition Year programme. Competing in the national competition, the students had to come up with a design using sound or recyclable objects. With up to €2,500 in cash prizes and a shot at the fashion big time at stake, the excitement is building as the final night of April 19, approaches.
