GAA CLUB NOTES

The GAA club registrati­on night for Cóiste na nÓg, adult non-playing members and players will take place in Adamstown Community Centre this Thursday night, March 15, at 8 p.m.

SHAMROCK VINTAGE CLUB

The Shamrock Vintage Club will hold its annual road run on Sunday, April 1, starting in Adamstown at 1 p.m. with registrati­on at 11.30. Proceeds going towards new furniture for canteen at Coláiste Abbain. Full details to follow next week.

SYMPATHY

Our deepest sympathy to Marie and Ciarian Mooney and family, Knockreigh on the death of Marie’s father Noel Walsh. Our sympathy also to his wife and family. Noel’s funeral Mass wase celebrated in Terrerath Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Congratula­tions to Dympna on coming third in the Ginger Bread Competitio­n at the Federation meeting on Monday, February 26.

BEAST FROM THE EAST

Last week the country faced the worst weather conditions for decades with snow, winds and blizzards hitting all parts of the country bringing virtually everything to a standstill. Thankfully in Adamstown although snow drifted up to 7ft in places there was no loss of electricit­y or water.

A word of thanks to the county Council staff, Order of Malta, ambulance crews, army, Gardaí, ESB Crews, Civil Defence, doctors, nurses, hospital staff, delivery van drivers. Also to people who helped clear the roads, looked in on neighbours.

Thanks also to Paul and staff in Cullen’s Gala, who did their very best in the difficult conditions.

SOCIAL DANCING

Our social dance will take place on Saturday, March 17, Doors open at 9 p.m. with music by Philip English. Tea and refreshmen­ts served. understand that planning is at an advanced stage within some businesses, sporting and community groups It will also present an opportunit­y for local business in the village by attracting visitors and community onlookers and it is hoped, as in previous year’s, they will avail of the opportunit­y and contribute in making this day a spectacle to remember.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The most recent winner of split-the-pot was Bobby Lambert c/o Alison Canon Murphy Park, the pot was €156. Remember 82% of winners are local. envelopes are available at local shops and business for €2 each.

CLOUGHBAWN GAA

The club will hold registrati­on evenings on Wednesday, March 14, and Wednesday, March 28, in the complex from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Membership must be paid by March 31, Fees for 2018 are: Family €120 (including underage and student up to 23 years) Adult player €100 Adult (student) €50, Underage player €30, Non-Playing member €40, OAP €25. All include complex facilities/Walking Track. Club merchandis­e, club lotto and model county tickets will also be available at registrati­on.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Best of luck to Elaine, Sarah, Tara, Faye, Niamh and Mercy New Ross girls in under-16 Junior A camogie all-Ireland Final. The girls play Ursuline Waterford this Saturday at 12.30 in WIT grounds.
