FETHARD ST MOGUE’S GAA
Fethard St Mogue’s GAA Club did a clean sweep of awards at the New Ross District Awards Night in the Horse and Hound last weekend. The success of the Coiste na nÓg section of the club in winning double all-Ireland Féile Titles was recognised when they were awarded the Coiste na nÓg Club of the Year. The adult club received a special award in recognition of their unprecedented success in winning a Leinster Title and contesting the all-Ireland Final.
It was no surprise therefore when the club were awarded the New Ross District Club of the Year Award for their success. Paul Barden received an award for his many years of service to the club as a player and later as a mentor with both underage and adult teams. A tireless worker for the club Paul was a very worthy award winner. Another clubman Tomas Neville received an award to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Wexford Senior Hurling all-Ireland success in 1968.
CELEBRATION DINNER
The eagerly awaited St Mogue’s GAA Celebration dinner dance will place next Friday, March 23, in Brandon House Hotel, New Ross with music by Wrecking Ball followed by DJ Dinner will be at 8 p.m. followed by presentation of medals to our victorious Wexford and Leinster winning hurling team.
PROGRESSIVE 45
There was a tie for first place in the Progressive 45 Card Game in Colclough Hall last Sunday night between john Sinnott, James McDonald and Aidan Colfer and Jimmy Cullen, Margaret Cullen and John Joe Murphy. There was a tie also for third place between David Murphy, Georgie Foley and Siobhán Doyle and Maura Cahill, Sonny Cahill and Michael murphy. The last game draw was won by Liam Power, Elish Breen and Dave Walshe. The raffle winners were Maura Cahill, Tommy Morrissey, Dick Power and Liam Power.
ABBEY LADIES GOLF
Abbey Ladies looked forward to March 10 and golf after being house and snow bound for over a week. 25 determined golfers took to the fairways of beautiful Carrigleade golf course in prevailing wet conditions allowing only 16 holes to be played. Weather took up and the sun broke through after the first half hour but under foot remained wet and heavy.

Two Beaches Environmental Workers are required to monitor and maintain the cleanliness levels, including water pollution on the Hook Peninsula Beaches. Key tasks include visiting agreed beaches in the peninsula on a regular basis, monitoring cleanliness, water purity/pollution levels and clearing rubbish/debris as appropriate. ICA are hosting a coffee morning in Horeswood Parochial Hall on Friday, March 23, from 10 a.m. till midday to raise money for Cancer Charities based in County Wexford. All are welcome so please come along, have a cuppa and support these worthy charities.
