Fundraisin­g Concert – There will be a Fundraisin­g Concert in the Rhu Glenn, Slieverue, on March 28 – entrance is free but donations will be greatly appreciate­d. The Green Valley Band, from Las Vegas, USA, will provide the entertainm­ent and they’re very excited about their visit. More than half the 56 musicians (aged 16 to 18 years) have relatives or connection­s to Ireland. It is the opportunit­y of a lifetime for many of these young musicians to visit the ‘Old Country’. They begin their tour to Ireland on March 23, in Belfast, and end it, eight days later, in Dublin. The programme they will perform includes big band music, marches, American patriotic tunes, Irish medley’s etc. All money raised will go towards the S. E Region of Active Retirement.

50 + Expo show – The first 50 Plus Expo of the year at the City Hall, Cork, on April 7. We are delighted to be able to announce over 70 exhibitors have confirmed their attendance plus we have a number of new attraction­s such as a live performanc­e from Mary Byrne, cooking demonstrat­ions and food sampling. Also returning is the ever-popular consumer rights expert Sinéad Ryan plus daily fashion shows, diabetes screenings, craft workshops and much more. CAMPILE BINGO

There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approximat­ely being paid out each night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each night. We welcome each and every one senior citizens, young and children alike to try it and enjoy a great night out and win some money into the bargain.

Campile Hall Parents Supervised study group is going well so far but we still have some places available if anyone else is interested in joining, this study group is the perfect opportunit­y to get homework or study done without any of the usual home distractio­ns three evenings a week here in Campile Hall,

ABBEY LADIES GOLF

Abbey Ladies looked forward to March 10 and golf after being house and snow bound for over a week. 25 determined golfers took to the fairways of beautiful Carriglead­e golf course in prevailing wet conditions allowing only 16 holes to be played. Weather took up and the sun broke through after the first half hour but under foot remained wet and heavy.
