Camross play recounts the final

- By ANNA HAYES

THE FINAL days of Jesus’ life will be recounted on the stage at Camross Hall when the ‘Passion Play’ is staged during Holy Week.

Under the stage direction of Michael Stafford and musical direction of Vicky Barron and Anita Cullen, the trio will transform the previously staged shows in 2000, 2006 and 2012, and portray the story before a diverse audience in Camross Hall on: Tuesday, March 27; Good Friday, March 30; and Easter Sunday, April 1.

The cast ranges in age from 11 up to 80.

Based on the Oberammergau script and adapted for stage performances, a huge cast of amateur actors, and a talented choir from Camross and several areas of the diocese, will bring the magnificent story to life.

Oberammergau, a small town in the south of Germany near the swiss border, was suffering from a deadly plague in 1633.

The little town promised that if they were spared they would perform this mammoth play every ten years. A miracle followed; the town was saved and has lived up to its promise ever since.
