Egg Hunts at Johnstown Castle

THE annual Easter Egg Hunts at Johnstown open on Saturday 24 March. Once again there will be a choice of indoor and outdoor egg hunts suitable for the whole family to enjoy. The indoor egg hunt takes visitors around the displays of the Irish Agricultural Museum and the outdoor hunts take place around Johnstown Castle Gardens. This year there will be three versions of the garden egg hunt - a mini egg hunt for those who do not wish to walk too far, a mega trail and a super-mega trail for the energetic.

All egg hunts will be available every day from Saturday 24 March until Easter Monday on 2 April. There’s no need to book – just turn up between 11am and 4pm and have a go. It’s great fun for families of all ages.

The egg hunts cost no more than €4 per child - €1 admission to the gardens plus €3 per trail sheet. Those who are entitled to free admission into the gardens eg under 5s and holders of family garden annual pass, pay just €3. Usual admission charges apply to adults, seniors, students and children not taking part in the Egg Hunt. For families there is an excellent value family ticket for 2 adults and up to 4 children for €24. This gives full access to the museum, gardens and choice of egg hunt.

For those who are family Museum Members there is no charge for the egg hunt.

All children taking part in an egg hunt will receive an Easter egg prize. Families who find the golden egg will be entered into a prize draw to win a family annual membership pass to the Museum and Gardens worth €50 or a voucher for €50 to be used in the Peacock Tea Room and / or Museum Shop.

On Easter Sunday, the Easter bunny will be in residence and can provide help to children who want it and will be offering chocolate all who meet him.

This event is suitable for all the family and promises fun whatever the weather!

The museum, shop and tea room are open every day during the holiday period until 5pm with the gardens open until 5.30pm.
