On a lonely road in the middle of nowhere, two world-weary friends await the arrival of the mysterious Godot. While waiting, they speculate, bicker, joke and ponder life’s greater questions. As dusk begins to fall, two figures appear on the horizon.

Regarded as one of the most significant plays of the 20th century, Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett is a masterpiece that has attracted endless interpretations. Director and Tony Award winner Garry Hynes, presents a new production of the work featuring members of the acclaimed Druid Ensemble - Garrett Lombard, Aaron Monaghan, Rory Nolan and Marty Rea. The Irish Times has described it as ‘ the freshest, funniest and most affecting production of the play in at least a quarter of a century’. Druid’s interpretation premiered at the 2016 Galway International Arts Festival and there wasn’t a ticket to be had for the subsequent Unusual Rural tour which played in outdoor locations in Glencree, Inis Meáin and the Céide Fields.Tickets are available from the Opera House box office at 053 9122144 and www.nationaloperahouse.ie.
