From the adverts: Free microwaves!

March 1988

-

J. Donohoe Ltd. in Enniscorthy had an enticing offer thirty years ago this month for anybody who was thinking of changing their car - do a trade-in at Donohoe’s, and they could drive off in their new vehicle with a free microwave oven to take home too.

The adverts said that the microwave was worth £199 and the deal applied to every second-sale of £3,000 or more. Anybody buying a new car would also get a free microwave, and the added bonus of a discount of up to £500 on the purchase price too.

Incidentally, Donohoe’s back then were Fiat dealers only, unlike the range of makes they currently offer.
