Community spirit high at PPN meeting

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

OVER forty community and voluntary organisations were represented at The Riverside Park Hotel as Wexford Public Participation Network (PPN) hosted its county membership meeting. A great mix of groups arrived from all over the county, including a mix of women’s groups, sports groups, arts groups, tidy towns and development groups to name but a few.

A bi-annual event provided a great opportunity for group members to meet with a range of service providers, attend drop-in information sessions and hear an engaging keynote address from Chief Executive of Wexford County Council, Mr Tom Enright, who acknowledged the hard work of Wexford PPN Representatives to date in bringing forward the views and opinions of the Community & Voluntary sector to Wexford County Council Committees. He also pledged the support of Wexford County Council to enhance participation and engagement across the county.

In addition to member stands, the event included stands from BHP Insurance, Clann Credo, Community Finance Ireland, Irish Environment Network, Wexford Libraries, Wexford Local Development, WLD LEADER team, Sports Active Wexford, Three Counties Energy Agency, and An Cosan Virtual Community College.

There were two short dropin information sessions, one focusing on the Creative Communities Funding Stream and the other on Sustainable Development Goals and how they are relevant to PPN member groups.

The event was said to have been a great success and organisers wished to thank those who came along and contributed in any way. For more information on Wexford PPN, visit www. wexfordppn.ie.
