Family lady Annie(85) never forgot a birthday

-

THE DEATH of 85-year-old Annie ‘Nancy’ Walsh has left a void in the lives of all those who knew her.

Annie, of St Martin’s Park in Ballycullane and formerly Ballyhackbeg, St Leonard’s, will be sady missed by her five children Christy, Margaret, Kathleen, Ann and Mary; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, friends and neighbours.

Annie was a great family lady, who always made great time for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday.

She was very popular and made friends easily - every time she went out, someone would always know her. She was well-liked in her local area and was well-known for her role, over the years, in Ballycullane Tidy Towns. She was renowned for keeping an outstanding garden.

She enjoyed going out on a Sunday for a drive and stopping off for lunch. She loved visiting The Hook and enjoyed the views there.

She had three great hobbies: holidaying in Killarney, playing the local lottery and photography. She loved sitting out on the main street in Killarney, listening to the street music. She loved visiting the Gap of Dunloe and taking in the views. She was always very lucky when she played the local lottery. She was also a very keen photographer and wasn’t shy about pulling out a camera to take a quick snap.

Annie never watched a lot of TV but she loved ‘Fair City’ and ‘Winning Streak’. She was always a hospitable host, who insisted any visitors had to have a cup of tea with her.

She loved going shopping on a Friday but had one rule: you had to pick her up on time!

Annie passed away peacefully at home on February 17, surrounded by her loving family. She was laid to rest in the cemetery in St Leonard’s after Requiem Mass in the Church of the Holy Spirit, St Leonard’s.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dhílis.
