CRYING WOLFF OVER ROLLING STONES GIG!

- By ANNA HAYES

LOCAL MUSICIAN WOLFF (aka Johnny Stewart) pulled off one of the best April Fool pranks in memory when he managed to convince quite a few people that he’d been asked to be a support act for the Rolling Stones at their Croke Park gig in May.

Stewart wrote on WOLFF’s Facebooke page: ‘I actually can’t believe I get to announce this! WOLFF will be supporting The Rolling Stones in Croke Park on May 17! This is a dream come true - in fact I feel like I’m dreaming! We’re going to ROCK the place to th e ground and learn a few tricks from Mick and the boys!’

While some commenters picked up on the particular date of the post, others were firmly convinced.

One fan remarked: ‘Wow, about time, knew you were destined for greatness. Keep up the hard work, world needs more Wolff.’ Another commented: ‘ That’s amazing man, well done’, before promptly following up with ‘Wait...is this an April Fool’s?’

Even Michael Londra, the US-based theatre producer and singer, was momentarily fooled, simply remarking ‘Epic’ before realising the date and editing his post.

Taking to social media after the drama, Johnny said: ‘Due to the overwhelming demand it looks like I’m going to have to actually try get WOLFF on the bill for The Rolling Stones gig in Croke Park now! Anyone have Mick’s phone number? Aiken Promotions want to hook it up? How about the Easter Bunny? Maybe, just maybe if we all keep making noise about this, our giant April fools might come true! I don’t know what to believe myself anymore.’
