Ailbhe sends North End into last eight

Tombrack United 2, North End United 3: These two young sides played out an exciting cup tie before North End eventually booked a quarter-final place with a goal scored ten minutes into the second-half.

The game was played at a furious pace from the start, with both sides playing some fast-paced, attacking football.

Katie Law scored twice for North End, with Amy Tobin-Cosgrave and her twin sister, Zoe scoring both goals for Tombrack, all coming in the first-half.

Ailbhe Cullinane scored the winner early in the second-half when she delicately chipped the ’keeper to put her side through to meet St. Cormac’s in the second round. played out some thrilling games at various age groups this season and this game was no exception, with both having to settle for a point each at the final whistle.

Sarah Walsh scored both goals for St. Joseph’s while Amy Shannon and Kerry Burt were on target for Moyne.

St. Leonards 2, Tombrack United 1: These two Premier sides played out a thrilling cup tie before the home team scored with minutes to go to book their place in the semi-final.

Tombrack were the better side in the first-half but found Lauren Roche in the home goal difficult to beat, although Becky Connaughto­n did manage to find the net midway through the half.

St. Leonards came more into the game in the second-half and got back on level terms through Eimear Gabbett, and Eadaoin Kent scored what proved to be the winner with five minutes left.

Even then Lauren Roche was called on to save to prevent Tombrack getting back on level terms and ensure the Premier leaders went through to the last four.

All Blacks 2, Forth Celtic 5: Forth Celtic remain in contention for the title after they made the short journey to All Blacks and came away 5-2 winners.

Sarah O’Donoghue scored both goals for the home side, but goals from Laura Butler, Sarah Carroll, Grace Roche, Aisling O’Sullivan and Kyra Lacey gave Forth their fifth win of the season and they are three points behind the leaders.

Camolin Celtic 0, Courtown Hibs 10: Hibs proved much too strong for a young Camolin side and knocked in ten without reply.

Gina Burke and Holly Tobin scored four each, with Sasha Greene and Mia Davey adding one apiece, and the home side’s goalkeeper putting in a player of the match performanc­e to keep the Courtown side at bay.

New Ross Celtic 0, Corach Ramblers 6: Niamh Miller was in fine form for Corach Ramblers as she scored four in their 6-0 win away to a young New Ross Celtic side.

Aisling Waters netted the other two goals for Corach who secured their fourth win of the season.

Bree United 2, Carnew F.C. 0: Bree recorded their first win of the season when they overcame a young Carnew side 2-0.

Amy Long scored both goals for the home side who were good value for their three points.

These sides played out a very entertaini­ng cup tie, but it was Curracloe’s scoring ability that proved to be the crucial difference between the two sides.

St. Joseph’s 0, New Ross Town 0: New Ross Town’s second team picked up their first point of the season when a hard-working St. Joseph’s side were unable to break down their well-organised defence.

Both sides produced some good passing football, but it was defences who dominated on the day.
