LATE SIOBHÁN BARRON

The death occurred in Hanwell London recently of Siobhán Barron née Roche beloved wife of the late Séamus (Shay) Barron of Darbystown, Tullogher. She was a native of Broadford, Co Limerick. Her remains lay in repose at Doyle’s Funeral Home, the Old Rectory, Rosbercon, on Wednesday evening last followed by removal to St David’s Church Mullinarri­gle. Following requiem Mass on Thursday she was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Siobhán is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth and Geraldine, sisters, Mary Flynn (Ardagh) and Betty (England) and her loving family relatives and friends-may she rest in peace.

ST MARY’S CATHEDRAL

The restoratio­n fund draw for St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny, is now in its fourth year. Bishop Dermot Farrell is appealing for support and thanked the people of Rosbercon for their ongoing help in this vital fundraiser for the cathedral. There are 12 monthly draws from March 2018 to February 2019 and tickets cost €10 each or €100 for all draws with a prize fund of €60,000. Tickets can be had from Fr Dan Cavanagh at the parochial house.

NEWLY BAPTISED

We welcome into our parish community Rory William Charles Canadas from Dulwich House, Tinnakilly, who was baptised in the Church of the Assumption, Rosbercon, on Saturday, March 17. He is son of Piers and Mairead (née O’Hanlon).

GAA NEWS

Despite putting up a good show in the All County Kilkenny hurling league our local team went down narrowly to John Locke’s from Callan on a score line of 0-19 to 2-10.
