Taghmon-Camross, who lost to Glynn-Barntown in the opening round, weren’t prepared to go down without an almighty fight, and they got back on level terms before the midway point of the second-half, with Stephen O’Gorman, Ian Carty and Seamie McLoughlin all finding the range.
However, Shelmaliers showed plenty of grit themselves and they outscored their opponents by four points to one in the final quarter to claim the spoils.
Jody Donohoe kickstarted the strong finish with a good score from a prohibitive angle, with two McCabe frees and a Brian Malone point ensuring a hardearned victory.
