THE CATS ARE BACK

Well done to our towering clubman, Walter Walsh, on another star display last Sunday as Kilkenny walloped old rivals, Tipperary, in the National League Final and also to our neighbours, Eoin Murphy from Glenmore and Richie Leahy from the Rower/Inistioge.

Kilkenny hurlers must be only sleeping after the long winter but they arose from their slumber with claws bared and ready for action as witnessed by our hurling ‘cats’ over the last few Sundays. Many scribes and so-called pundits wrote their obituary when they lost their first two games in the National League to Cork and Clare. But the blend of old and new is paying rich dividends under the managership of the incomparable Brian Cody.

Our own Walter Walsh, can now be termed among the old brigade who make up the spine or the middle of this exciting Kilkenny team. Take the middle line, Eoin Murphy, Pádraig Walsh, Cillian Buckley, T. J Reid and Walter the formation is as strong as the proverbial rock with newcomers blending in almost overnight. We look forward to the summer campaign which like the weather looked rather gloomy some weeks ago.
