VILLAGE HEALTH CHECK

We want to ensure that we develop Duncannon to its full potential and that involves the village looking well and have all necessary amenities available.

With this in mind, the county Council has recommende­d a ‘Village Health Check’ which is a re-run of an exercise we did some years ago. This is to ensure that we understand the needs of the community.

We are holding a public meeting tonight, Tuesday, April 17, at 8 p.m. in the Star of the Sea Centre. You are all invited. Please make an effort to have as many families as possible represente­d.

St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange, is hosting the annual Alzheimer’s Tea Day on Thursday, May 3, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

All proceeds go to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Please drop in and support this worthy cause.

SLADE SWIMMING CLUB

Join us for our first official swim of the year this Sunday, April 22, 10.30 a.m. in Slade. Membership and club informatio­n will be available from 9 a.m. at the Hook Sub Aqua Club. Light refreshmen­ts will also be served here afterwards.

Fethard and Dunmore Lifeboats along with the Coast Guard and Kayakers will be on hand during the swim. We are asking for people to join us – simply by offering their time. A few hours a week can make a huge difference to the services we can offer. Full training (if necessary) will be given. A Music Extravagan­za takes place at Stafford’s of Tulllicann­a on Sunday, May 6, with music from 4 p.m. till late. There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approximat­ely being paid out each night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each night.
