Terrerath fun run in memory of Noel Walsh

Terrerath Parochial committee, in associatio­n with Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n GAA Club, are holding a 5 km fun run and walk on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7, in Terrerath from 11 a.m.

This was a fundraiser which was in the very early stages of organisati­on when one of the main organisers, Noel Walsh, passed away suddenly at the end of February. It was decided with the agreeance of the Walsh family to name the event the ‘Noel Walsh Memorial Race’. There are nine races in total with perpetual trophies generously sponsored for the winners. There are two main team races – the sponsors of which are Cooney Furlong Grain Company and Mr Oil. The other seven cups are sponsored by A.H.C. Veterinary Taghmon, Oakland Quarries Ballykelly, McSorleys Centra Ballinaboo­la, Boland Motors New Ross, Terence Aspel, Paddy Morrissey and The Walsh Family. There are nine race categories including a GAA Club Team of three race including Camogie clubs (you must be a registered club member and wear a club jersey, any queries contact Terence on 085 7575134. A Family Team of three (must have at least one female). (Family, parent, son, daughter, brother, sister of the same family). First female, first male, first junior Under 20, first over 35 Female, first over 35 male, first over 45 female and first over 45 male. Registrati­on is at Terrerath Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. on Monday, May 7. The cost is €10 per person. There will also be spot prizes and a best fancy dress prize to bring some fun to the event.
