IMPRESSIVE EARLY LINE-UP FOR KILMORE LITERARY FEST
A STELLAR early line-up has been announced for Write by the Sea 2018. the third annual Kilmore Quay Literary Festival, which takes place on September 29 and 30.
The theme of this year’s festival is Coastlines.
A number of top names have already been confirmed for the event. Award-winning international novelist Kit de Waal, pictured right, will speak about her own experiences of writing. Her new novel ‘ The Trick to Time’ is set in Kilmore Quay and in her native Birmingham. Also scheduled to take part is Cath Staincliffe, crime novelist and writer of the long-running TV series ‘Blue Murder’; as is author Rob Doyle, RTE presenter Rick O’Shea and John McKenna, a popular regular on Sunday Miscellany. In the wake of Bob Dylan’s award of a Nobel Prize for Literature, renowned Irish songwriter Eleanor McEvoy will talk about song lyrics, and academic Derek Hand, author of books and articles on John Banville, WB Yeats, Colum McCann, Molly Keane and Benedict Kiely will talk about the contemporary Irish novel. Other key contributors are yet to be confirmed, including many South-East and Wexford-based authors drawn from several genres and who will present workshops on several aspects of writing and getting published.
Chairperson of the organising committee, Lucy Moore said: ‘Although Write By The Sea is only in its third year, we are delighted that so many established authors are so keen to join us in Kilmore Quay. We’re very pleased that even before any details were announced we’ve had many advance bookings, and I’m also looking forward to confirming an impressive list of local contributors to the schedule. We are also planning an art exhibition by a popular local artist which fits perfectly into our Coastlines theme.’
