On Sunday the 100 mile charity drive challenge takes place, when hundreds of cars leave from Wexford quays, taking in some very scenic roads as drivers head north on the coast road R742. Drivers, including rally legend Rosemary Smith, will then travel south and the event will finish at Corcoran’s bar in New Ross.

2 AN EVENING WITH LIAM MERRIMAN AND JODY MCSTRAVICK. On Friday, April 27, at 8.30 p.m Wexford Arts Centre will host a unique musical experience with two of Ireland’s finest singer-songwriters, Liam Merriman and Jody McStravick. This is the first time the duo have played together in Ireland in over ten years. Liam has been a significant presence on the live music circuit in Ireland over many years: his songs have been released by several record labels. Based in Waterford Liam has also toured with and supported many major folk acts including Nanci Griffith, Christy Moore and Clannad. Based in Paris Jody has not appeared in Ireland for many years despite performing regularly in Europe. He is a regular performer in the Radio France Open Sessions, a forum for original songwriters, where he delighted in tall-tale-telling of eccentric Irishness in English and French.

3 THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE: Having scooped a number of awards out on the circuit, and narrowly missed out on the AllIreland Drama Finals, Enniscorthy Drama Group are bringing their production of Martin McDonagh’s ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ back to Enniscorthy for and encore on Saturday and Sunday. The play proved a hit out on the circuit and director Tom Reddy and cast of Anne-Marie Whelan, Michelle Whelan, Brendan Robinson and Fintan Kelly picked up some major plaudits. In fact, the group managed to scoop a total of 12 different awards on their travels and they’re looking forward to taking it home. Tickets are available from The Presentation Centre on 053 9233000 or www. presentationcentre.ie.

4 GERRY QUIGLEY & THE DIRTY BLUES BAND: A favourite of the Blackstairs Blues Festival, Mr Gerry Quigley returns to Enniscorthy on Saturday for a special promotional show in Holohan’s Bar. 7 HERE ALL NIGHT: The Sound of Beckett is a new theatrical offering, devised by Gare St Lazare Ireland, who have been described by the New York Times as ‘the unparalleled Beckett champions’. A hypnotic journey into the musical mind of Samuel Beckett, the group has created an entirely original performance that defies easy description. A meditation, a celebration, an interpretation; ‘Here All Night’s’ non-linear musical narrative offers another way to access both Beckett’s world and our own. Conceived and created by Judy Hegarty Lovett, Conor Lovett, Paul Clark and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, the show takes place in the National Opera House on Wednesday, April 25 at 8 p.m.
