A Music Extravagan­za takes place at Stafford’s of Tulllicann­a on Sunday, May 6, with music from 4 p.m. till late. This is a night not to be missed as there are a number of bands performing on the night with all proceeds from this unique event going to the Hope Cancer Support Centre, Enniscorth­y. Our intermedia­te Football team took a hard fall during the weekend with a heavy defeat over St Mary’s Maulditown on a scoreline of 3-12 to five points. So going in with a draw and a loss for round three of the championsh­ip.

This Saturday night in Carrig Community Centre the bingo celebrates its 10-year running. Special Thanks goes to the original organisers who started the ball rolling and to everyone who is involved from week to week. These things don’t just happen on their own a lot of work is involved. On Saturday there’s €1,600 in prize money to be won and lots of raffle prizes.

On Tuesday the Junior Ladies’ Football take on Baile Dubh Tire in Grantstown at 7.30 in their first round of championsh­ip good luck ladies.

Well done to our Scor Group on representi­ng club recently.

The Junior Football squad took on Horeswood on Friday last in Grantstown and took a comfortabl­e win. Final score B/B 5-12 h/w 2-11. Well done, lads.

PARISH CLEAN UP

Since good weather is forecast. we will start the clean-up this week till end of April.

The roads are littered with rubbish and we need to pick up as much of it as we can before the Grass and weeds start growing and covering it up. Bags available gloves etc from Nicola in PO. If people would take an area near them and organise to do a section of road and let us know that would be great. More help less work. Trailer will be in usual place for the rubbish till end of April.

ANNIVERSAR­Y DANCE

Ballymitty handball club is celebratin­g the fourth anniversar­y Of social dancing in Tír na nÓg on Thursday, May 3, with music by Delta Dawn. Work has now started on the building of our Second ball alley which brings great pressure on fundraisin­g. We would welcome a little more support for our weekly dances as we believe the new facilities will be of great benefit to the youth of the parish.

The Little Sea Musical Society in associatio­n with the Kiltra school of music concert orchestra and guests present the ‘Rhythm of the sea’ concert in Carrig church on Friday, May 4, and in St Mary’s community hall Fethard-on-sea on Saturday, May 12. ABBEY LADIES GOLF

30 Abbey Ladies took to the fairways of Rathaspeck Manor Golf course last Saturday. Fine weather prevailed, rain stayed away. The course was in good condition considerin­g the continuous rain we had of late. It had to be due of course to the hard work of Michael Cuddihy to keep it in good shape.

A shot gun start gave rise to shot gun shooting as great scores were returned. Finishing practicall­y together after a shot gun start, all retreated to the club house for a social get together and refreshmen­ts. A great selection of cakes and buns were enjoyed by all, thanks to Anne O’Grady who generously made and provided the confection­ary. As per usual all 30 returned cards were checked by Brigid Doyle and Paula Donoughue, thanks girls. The captain then read out the awaited scores as follows:

TEENAGE DISCO

There will be a Teenage Disco in Campile Hall, on this Friday night, April 27, for first to third year students, from 9 p.m. to midnight Doors open at 8 p.m. – Admission €8 – strictly no alcohol or drugs allowed. This is a fully supervised event.

CAMPILE BINGO

There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approximat­ely being paid out each night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each night. We welcome each and every one senior citizens, young and children alike to try it and enjoy a great night out and win some money into the bargain.

CAMPILE STUDY GROUP

Campile Hall Parents Supervised study group is going well so far but we still have some places available if anyone else is interested in joining, this study group is the perfect opportunit­y to get homework or study done without any of the usual home distractio­ns three evenings a week here in Campile Hall, It is open to anyone in third, fifth or sixth years that might be interested in joining, study is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at a cost of €20 per month to book in or to make inquiries contact Nicholas at 087 9418661 or Campile hall at 087 2183300.
