NEW VICAR GENERAL

Many congratula­tions go to our parish priest, Fr Dan Cavanagh, on his recent appointmen­t as Vicar-General of the diocese of Ossory. New Bishop, Dermot Farrell, has confirmed the appointmen­t in recent weeks effective from April 1.

CHURCH MEETINGS

There will be a meeting of the Pastoral Council in the Parochial House on Tuesday evening, April 24, at 7.30 p.m. A meeting of the Parish Website Committee is scheduled for the same venue on Thursday the 26th at the earlier time of 7 p.m. There will be an In-Service Training Evening for Eucharisti­c Ministers, Readers and Altar Societies of the parish in the Parish Hall on Monday, May 14, at 7.30 p.m. The training co-ordinator will be Fr Willie Purcell, parish priest of Clara.

GOOD START

Our Intermedia­te hurlers got away to a good start in their group of the Kilkenny/League Championsh­ip first round. They had an impressive 2-17 to 1-15 over St Lactain’s from Freshford.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The South Kilkenny Historical Society host a talk entitled ‘Putting Ireland on Four Wheels’ by Dr Austin O’Sullivan in Mullinavat Parish Hall on Thursday, April 26, at 8 p.m. A Coach Trip to Dublin taking in the ‘The Little Museum of Dublin and IPIC-The Irish Emigration Museum’ is planned for Saturday, May 26, The cost of the trip is €60 (Society Members €50) and further informatio­n can be got from Brigid Barron (brigidbarr­on@gmail.com) or Eddie Synott (edsynott@yahoo.co.uk.

FASHION SHOW

The Tullogher camogie club are having a Fashion Show in the Rhu Glen Hotel and Country Club on this Friday night, April 27, commencing at 7.30 p.m. Style from stores in Waterford and New Ross will on show and all are welcome to attend where the entry fee is only €10.
