ONE of the world’s biggest shopping TV channels broadcast live from New Ross recently.

Evine is a multi-channel video retailer and American cable, satellite and broadcast television network. Owned by Evine Live Inc., the channel is headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Two of its presenters arrived with a large crew in New Ross on Saturday, April 21, to do a promotion of Waterford Crystal products on board the Dunbrody Famine Ship.

The presenters and tv sales crew arrived in New Ross in the early afternoon and took over part of the quay. They recorded some of the actors on the Dunbrody ship, which was recently refurbished, on a sunny spring day.

The broadcast went live at 7 p.m. and continued until 4 a.m.

Evine is available to view in 93 million American homes and is one of the most popular TV retailers in the world. It broadcasted live from Hook Lighthouse and Reginald’s Tower in Waterford, among other locations, during its promotional tour of the region.

New Ross Street Focus champion Myles Courtney spoke for four minutes about the history of New Ross, drawing viewers attention to some of the great historical parts of the town and the history of the old famine ship.

A 6 in crystal version of the ship retailing at $150 is almost sold out, while a ‘Dunbrody’ decanter is selling at $250 plus shipping on the website.
