1 RHYTHM OF THE SEA CONCERT: The Little Sea Musical Society are putting on a big show entitled Rhythm of the Sea at Carrig on Bannow Church on Friday. Held in associatio­n with the Kiltra School of Music concert orchestra and guests, the Rhythm of the Sea concert will have lots of songs for people to enjoy. The group, which was formed in January 2016 to give a creative outlet to local singers in the Wellington­bridge area through musical theatre and choral singing, have been rehearsing for several weeks in the run up to the show, which will be followed by a performanc­e in St Mary’s Hall in Fethard on Sea on Saturday, May 12. Tickets are on sale in Kiltra School of Music, Breda’s Corner Shop, Costcutter­s in Wellington­bridge and at Fethard Post Office. 2 NO SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE: Love/Hate actress Mary Murray stars in this critically acclaimed one-woman play which arrives at Enniscorth­y’s Presentati­on Centre on Friday night. Written by Paddy Murray and directed by Jimmy Smallhorne, it focuses on €60,000 in post office robbery money which is up for grabs and the gossip of six different women in the smoking area of a Dublin pub. Murray has received some high praise for her role, being described as a ‘one-woman tour de force’ and it’s being labelled a must-see for theatre fans. Bridge Drama, who are RTE ALL Ireland finalists, will stage its production of Cash on Delivery in the National Opera House on May 5 and May 6 at 8 p.m. In the play Eric Swan has been successful­ly defrauding the Department of Social Security for the past two years by claiming social benefit for numerous fictitious lodges unbeknown to his wife Linda. However, following an unexpected visit from DSS Inspector Jenkins, Eric tries desperatel­y to extricate himself from his web of deceit and he blackmails his hapless lodger Norman into helping him. Aided by Eric’s Uncle George, they franticall­y attempt to cover up Eric’s lies only to dig themselves further into an ever-deepening hole. To book tickets contact 053 9122144. 4 SNOWPOET. The London based band Snowpoet will perform at Wexford Arts Centre on May 4 at 8.30 p.m. The band is led by writing duo of Lauren Kinsella and Chris Hyson. The band also features Josh Arcoleo on saxophone, Matt Robinson on keys, Nick CostleyWhi­te on guitar and Dave Humblett on drums. Their second album ‘Thought You Knew’ takes their musical collaborat­ion and sound to the next level. 5 STUDENTS FROM the Drama Group at the Wexford Campus of IT Carlow will present their musical adaptation of one of cinemas all-time favourite family films on Sunday, May 6, in Wexford Arts Centre. ‘Mrs Doubtfayre’ is a reworking of the classic movie, ‘Mrs Doubtfire’, and will be performed by a very talented group of students and children. A heart-warming production it’s suitable for all members of the family. D-Bar will be transforme­d into a Chicago-style Speakeasy and those in attendance are encouraged to dress in their best 1920s gear and enjoy gin cocktails and smooth jazz from Ain’t Misbehavin’. Tickets are €15 and can be purchased from the reception desk at Treacy’s Hotel. 7 WHO WANTS TO BE A THOUSANDAI­RE?: A fun and thrilling night is promised along with the chance to win thousands with the Ballycanew-Ballyought­er Community Developmen­t Associatio­n ‘Who Wants to be a Thousandai­re’ event. People will have the opportunit­y to play for big money on Saturday, May 5, at 8 p.m., in the Ashdown Park Hotel. Ten lucky contestant­s will be drawn exclusivel­y from the audience on May 5 to have the chance to play for €1,000 on the night.
