Art and Handwritin­g county finals: Well done to the following, Grace Bolger, who came third in the under-10 girls art, and Tara Nolan, who was placed second in the under-16 girls art.

Indoor Soccer: Well done to Aoife Byrne, Aoife McDonald, Lori Bolger, Mia Walsh, Peig Waters, Eibhlin McHale, Katie Mae McCarty and Neala Barron, who represente­d their county in the under-13 Indoor Soccer Lenisters in Carlow. They put up a good fight but unfortunat­ely lost out to Tullow/Grange. Also well done to all from the Community Games Committee.

CUSHINSTOW­N ICA

The April meeting of the guild took place on Monday the ninth. Guest for the night was Garda Crime Prevention Officer, Sgt Brendan Moore, who gave us many tips and hints as to how to avoid becoming victims of crime.

This meeting was also the AGM of the guild. The outgoing president, Margaret Ryan, gave a report on the highlights of the previous year. She thanked all the other officers for their hard work during the year and the pleasant manner in which they carried out their duties. She remembered with sadness the loss of our valued member, Teresa O’Keeffe, in September.

TERRERATH 5K FUN RUN

Terrerath Parochial Committee in associatio­n with Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n GAA Club are holding a 5k Fun Run and Walk on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7, in Terrerath from 11 a.m. Registrati­on at Terrerath Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. Cost €10 per Person. There are nine race categories – There will be two Team Races A) GAA Club Team of three Race (Must be registered club member and wear a club jersey, any queries contact Terence at 085 7575134), B) Family Team of three (Must have at least one female). First Female, First Male, First Junior under-20, First Over 35 Female, First Over 35 Male, First Over 45 Female and First Over 45 Male.

TERRERATH BINGO

The penny bank operates every Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. at SWWFRC the payout date is Friday, November 30. New savers are always welcome. Bank transfers are also an option.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

At SWWFRC we run projects with a group of core staff, a team of CE workers (of which there is always space to join) and a dedicated group of volunteers. We are asking for people to join us – simply by offering their time. A few hours a week can make a huge difference to the services we can offer. Full training (if necessary) will be given. GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the €4,400 jackpot in the draw last Tuesday. The winning numbers were 10, 25, 27 and 30. St James Club had one match-three winner: Mary Rose Ryan, Boderan, who won €50. GAA FUN RUN/WALK

St James GAA Club is having a Family Fun Run/Walk on May 13, at 2 p.m. There will be a 6km option, that runs down Clonsharra­gh and a 3km option that is all within the Dunbrody grounds. The entry fee is €10 for over 16; €5 for 16 and under; €25 for a family of four. Refreshmen­ts will be served after the run. Hope to see you there.

St Louis Day Care Centre are hosting their annual Alzheimer’s Tea Day on Thursday, May 3, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer Society Of Ireland. Please Drop in and support this worthy cause.

BLUEBELL CAFÉ

The Bluebell Café takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in ‘The Tea Room’ at St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange. The café is open to people with dementia, their partners, carers, families and friends. Campile Hall Parents Supervised study group is going well so far but we still have some places available if anyone else is interested in joining, this study group is the perfect opportunit­y to get homework or study done without any of the usual home distractio­ns three evenings a week here in Campile Hall, It is open to anyone in third, fifth or sixth years
