COISTE NA NOG

All the underage teams have been busy over the last week. Our under-7 manager Diarmuid Buttimer is beginning training the under-7s from Tuesday, April 24, from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. All boys and girls from 5-7 years are welcome to come along and learn football and hurling skills. Parents have to stay for the duration of training. Under-9s are also training on Tuesday nights at the same time.

Our under-14 team competed in Division 3 of the Féile Football over the Weekend. As two teams pulled out of the four team group, they were left to fight it out with Adamstown to see who would go through to the semi-finals. In a very tight game, our boys were five points up at half time, having played with a strong breeze. This lead was wiped out a few minutes into to the second half, but with a lot of grit and determination, we fought back to get a well deserved win 3-7 to 3-5.

In the semi-final we played St Mary’s Rosslare in Tagoat. This was another tight contest which we were leading at half time after playing with a strong breeze. The lead was held till two minutes into injury time, when Rosslare scored a goal to tie things up, with the last kick of the Game. After getting out of jail, Rosslare went on to win in extra time by five points, 4-8 to 4-3. Well done to all the lads that played their part in two titanic struggles and were very unlucky not to make it through to the final.

Under-11 hurlers have training on Thursday night and a match in Rathangan against St Anne’s on Friday evening. Throw in at 7 p.m.

Our under-13 hurlers beat the Geraldine O’Hanrahans in New Ross on Tuesday by 3-5 to 3-1.

Meanwhile the under-15 hurlers are due to play St Mary’s Rosslare at home on Thursday at 7.30.
