Hermitage Green tuning up to rock the Dun Mhuire

-

HERMITAGE Green will return to Wexford this Saturday, May 5, for a headline show in the Dun Mhuire Theatre following an international tour across the UK, Middle East, Australia and the US.

The band came together as a result of a spontaneous jam session between friends and has grown from strength to strength since then. Their unique arrangement of instruments that includes the bodhrán, djembe, rhythmic guitar and banjo sets them apart as a truly original offering of Irish Music.

The band will perform tracks from their latest EP ‘ Gold & Rust’ including ‘Lions Share’ and of course favourite hits such as ‘Save Your Soul’, ‘Jenny’ and ‘Not Your Lover’.

Gold & Rust was inspired by a lyric that Darragh Griffin wrote in the song ‘Bring It On Down’.

‘I suppose as an album title it represents the many contrasts of being in a band in 2017’ said Dan Murphy of Hermitage Green. ‘ The ups and downs, highs and lows, whatever you want to call it… From playing the main stage at Electric Picnic, to getting laughed out the door of a bank when looking for a mortgage. From walking out of a sold out Olympia Theatre in Dublin, to playing to 7 people in a town somewhere in the U.S. From telling your band mates you love them and would do anything for them, to trying to kill your band mates because they piss you off sometimes. ‘Gold & Rust’ is the dichotomy between the struggle and the absolute privilege of doing what you love for a living.’

Special guest on the night is local man Niall Cash.

Niall was nominated as Best Solo Male Act 2015 for Pure M Awards and has been playing in venues such as The Button Factory, Whelan’s, The Workmans Club, The Ruby Sessions and The Wexford Spiegeltent. Gathering a band behind him for his debut EP he developed his music into a folk/pop sound, gathering influences from the likes of James Bay, Ben Howard and The Coronas. In May 2016 he then released an EP called ‘Frames Have Cracked’ which peaked at number 1 in the Irish singer-songwriter charts on iTunes.

Tickets are on sale now from the Box Office or Bugler Doyles Off-Licence and www.lantern.ie.
