Hundreds help raise €5,000 for hall refurbishment
FASHION SHOW IN AID OF TERRERATH HALL IN THE HORSE & HOUND
MORE than 300 people packed into the Horse & Hound in Ballinaboola recently, raising around €5,000 for refurbishment works to Terrerath Hall.
The committee behind the show are raising money for the hall, which dates back to 1980. The hall is used for Cushinstown soccer teams, Irish dancing classes, badminton, the local youth club, Slimming World, bingo and community meetings. Organised over a busy six weeks, clothing from boutiques from New Ross featured, along with dresses from Barnardos Bridal Rooms and Lily Rose plus size boutique and clothes from pop up shops. Numerous sponsors cam forward with prizes and the door and spot prizes were very popular on the night.
One of the organisers Deborah Kehoe said the night exceeeded the organisers expectations. Deborah thanked the models, the sponsors and all of the businesses for attending and supporting the event.
‘We were hoping to raise €4,000 and we raised up to €5,000 so we’re delighted with how it went. We put in new radiators and insulation. Last year we put in a new fire alarm system and hopefully we will be able to extend the hall over the coming years so that we can have another meeting room, and changing rooms for the teams. It is the hub in the community.’
A field day fundraiser for Terreath Hall is planned later this summer, while the Noel Walsh Memorial Run took place on Monday morning.
