Adamstown CONFIRMATI­ON

On Wednesday, April 18, the children from fifth and sixth class in Adamstown NS received the Sacrament of Confirmati­on from Bishop Denis Brennan. Having spent many months in preparatio­n for this day, with the support of families and teachers, the children were very much looking forward to their confirmati­on.

Thanks to Fr Nolan for his support and guidance to the children over the past months. Thanks to all other priests who were present on the day. The church was beautifull­y prepared by Catherine Hanley and family as was the lovely Easter Garden. Thanks to Cait for her help. We wish the confirmati­on class every blessing and good wishes.

ALZHEIMER’S TEA DAY

Ellie Walsh and family, Tomgarrow will host an Alzheimer’s Tea Day at their home on Saturday, May 19, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Your support is much appreciate­d. All donations collected got to Wexford Branch of Alzheimer’s.

The weekly ‘30’ card game continues in the community centre this Friday, May 11, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Proceeds go to parish funds.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

High Hopes Choir Waterford will be in the library on May 10 at 2 p.m.: Waterford’s High Hopes Choir is one of two regional choirs (the other is based in Dublin) made up of people affected by homelessne­ss and the staff and volunteers who work with them. The two choirs were created by former principal conductor of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra David Brophy as part of a three-part TV documentar­y which aired last December. Working with some of the most recognised charities in Ireland – Dublin Simon Community, Saint Vincent de Paul and Focus Ireland.

Killanne Developmen­t Group have bags and gloves available for anyone who would like to clean up around their area. As we do not have the services of a Tús or RSS worker so far this year we would really appreciate if people could pick up litter on the roadside near their homes. GAA CLUB LOTTO

PARISH MEETINGS

There will be a meeting of the Parish Cemetery Committee in the Parochial House on Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. All members please note change of date. On Monday, May 14, in the Parish Hall there will be an in-service training evening for Eucharisti­c Ministers, Readers and Altar Society members. Commencing at 7.30 p.m. the course will be conducted by Fr Willie Purcell, parish priest of Clara.

BISHOPS VISIT

Newly appointed Bishop of Ossory, Dermot Farrell, will pay a visit to Rosbercon on Tuesday, May 15. He will offer Mass in the Church of the Assumption at 10 a.m. for the children who were confirmed in January and their families. The general public are most welcome to come along and join in the Mass. Afterwards Bishop Farrell will pay a visit to the schools and the other churches in the parish.

GAA NEWS

Tullogher-Rosbercon Intermedia­te footballer­s qualified for the Kilkenny semi-final with a well-deserved victory over Piltown in the quarter final on a score line of 2-8 to 1-6. In the new Permanent TSB under-19 hurling league the locals were beaten by Slieverue, who scored 4-11 against our lads 1-15, a five-point winning margin. Better news came from the Alliance/Cuman na mBunscol Roinn B Top Oil hurling league South when the youngsters outscored Mooncoin by 2-5 to 1-4.
