At the Irish Countrywom­en’s Associatio­n Meeting in Rathgarogu­e Hall on the 17th, April, 2018 the president, Mrs Anne Young offered a Vote of sympathy to two of the members, Mrs Marie Browne on the death of her husband Mick, also sympathy was extended to Mrs Alva Power on the death of her husband, William. The next Guild Meeting will be held on May 15 in Rathgarogu­e Hall. The Sweeney Garden Centre, New Ross will give a Talk and Demonstrat­ion on the night to the Guild Members. Non-Members of the ICA are welcome to come along to see the Demonstrat­ion.

CAMOGIE/LADIES FOOTBALL

Well done to Cora McGrath and Ellie Nugent, who are members of the county under-14 football panel who beat Longford in the Leinster semi-final in Ross recently on a scoreline of 7-8 to 6-5. They face Westmeath in the Leinster final in Clane, Kildare on Saturday, May 5, results to follow next week. Best of luck to the girls, the team and their mentors. The club is also represente­d in the management team through Aaron O’Neill and Ber Nugent best wishes to them also.

The club wishes to extend best wishes to all members making their First Holy Communion in Rathgarogu­e, Cushinstow­n and Raheen in the coming weeks.

GAA CAMP

Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n GAA Club has reschedule­d our GAA camp to run during the May midterm break. The camp will take place over two mornings, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8 and May 9, from 9.30 p.m. to 12.30 p.m. and is run by qualified coaches. This for ages 6-13. Cost – €10 per child – maximum €20 per family

CUSHINSTOW­N ICA

The April meeting of the guild took place on Monday, April 9. Guest for the night was Garda Crime Prevention Officer, Sgt Brendan Moore, who gave us many tips and hints as to how to avoid becoming victims of crime.

This meeting was also the AGM of the guild. The outgoing president, Margaret Ryan, gave a report on the highlights of the previous year. She thanked all the other officers for their hard work during the year and the pleasant manner in which they carried out their duties. She remembered with sadness the loss of our valued member, Teresa O’Keeffe, in September.

TERRERATH BINGO

Bingo is on every Wednesday in Terrerath Community Centre at 8.15. We would like to thank everyone who supports this event and are always looking more newcomers.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Tickets for the split-the-pot are at €2 and are available locally and will be drawn every Sunday in Cushinstow­n Church after 11.15 Mass.

CUSHINSTOW­N BINGO

Don’t forget Monthly Bingo the first Sunday of every month. This will be held in the Horse and Hound and is held in Aid of St Mary’s Church Cushinstow­n. €4,700 jackpot in the draw last Tuesday. The winning numbers were 1, 10, 25 and 27. St James’ Club had two match-three winners: Kathy Dunne, Newtown and Keith Murray, Campile, who won €35 each. The jackpot for the next lotto draw, on May 15, will be €5,000. Lotto tickets are available from committee members and local shops and pubs.

FAMILY FUN RUN/WALK

St James GAA Club is having a Family Fun Run/Walk on May 13, at 2 p.m. There will be a 6km option, that runs down Clonsharra­gh and a 3km option that is all within the Dunbrody grounds. The entry fee is €10 for over 16; €5 for 16 and under; €25 for a family of four. Refreshmen­ts will be served after the run. Hope to see you there.

St Louis Day Care Centre is holding a 5K Walk/Run in JFK Memorial Park on Sunday, May 20, at 10.30 a.m. We hope to raise funds for the on-going upkeep of the centre. Entry Fee: €10 – Children under-16: Free

VILLAGE RENEWAL

Duncannon Village Renewal is delighted to announce its involvemen­t in this year’s Sand Sculpting Festival. They are looking forward to working with the community in building on the success of the festival, expanding it’s offering for the local community and the many visitors that return to Duncannon every year to enjoy the festivitie­s, while also aiming to attract new visitors to the village and wider area. The festival will run over three days; August 10, 11 and 12. A full programme of events will be announced in the coming weeks.

PLANT SALE

Ballyculla­ne Veggie Growers are having their annual Plant Sale in Ballyculla­ne Parish Hall on Saturday next, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fruit, flowers and vegetable plants will be on sale and tea will also be served. The Ballyculla­ne Veggie Growers grow organic vegetables in a community plot. If you are interested in joining the group, please come along any Tuesday evening, at 7 p.m., or ring Anne at 087 6788652 for more details. Larkin and Joe Ryan while fourth went to Nick Doyle, Mick Reville and Willie Kehoe. The last game draw went to Jimmy Haughton, Kieran Keating and Willie White. Raffle winners were Tom Culleton, Jim Kehoe, Johnny Colfer and John Sinnott.
