It as has been decided at the most recent meeting of Cloughbawn Parish Committee to cement the paths at Cloughbawn Cemetery. Anyone willing to volunteer to help out would be most appreciate­d, Ground works and preparatio­ns will take place from 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, and concrete will be poured on Saturday, June 9. Cloughbawn GAA will be represente­d by Sarah Greene on Saturday, June 2, in Innovate Wexford Park, where she has the honor of singing the National Anthem before Wexford v Galway senior game.

The annual 5K walk/run will take place on Sunday, June 10, at 11 a.m., commencing in Cloughbawn GAA Club, registrati­on at 10.30, Adults €10, Students €5 and Children €3.

POULPEASTY PATRON

Advance notice of change of date for annual patron in Poulpeasty, going forward the patron will on the first Friday of June each year. This year’s date is Friday, June 1.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The winner of this week’s splitthe-pot drawn in the Boro Inn was Kathy Cogley, Tomfarney. The pot was €220, envelopes available in various business outlets, and a winner drawn every Monday night.

The death has occurred of Anna O’Gorman (née Redmond) Tominearly, Clonroche, Wexford Who died suddenly at her home. Beloved wife of John and mother of Deirdre, Yvonne, Michelle and Olivia. The local Historical Society’s annual outing to Spike Island is on Wednesday, May 30. The Coach will leave the bank of Ireland at 9 a.m.

NEW CAR PARK

Local councillor ‘Chap’ Cleere has welcomed the new proposal by Kilkenny Co Co to construct a new 15 bay car park and also construct a wheelchair accessible public toilet in the town. The lack of public toilets in the town has been cause for much concern in recent years since the old toilets closed on Convent Road. The proposed plans are on public display in the library till June 15. Chap thanked Kilkenny Co Co and in particular Frank Stafford for all their hard work in bringing this proposed developmen­t to this stage, and is hopeful that this project can be completed by the end of the year.

GAA CLUB OPENING

Graignaman­agh GAA Club’s official opening of Dr Tierney Park by Jimmy Walsh chairman of Kilkenny County Board will take place on Monday, June 4, at 2.30 p.m. This will be followed by an under-21 match between Kilkenny and Waterford at 3 p.m. no experience is necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. Duties will include environmen­tal work, grass cutting, litter control, spraying, weeding, strimming and general maintenanc­e work. 2.5 days per week/19.5 hours per week (excluding breaks).

The date of commenceme­nt is June. Eligibilit­y to participat­e on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years of age or over and in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment for one year or more.
