ST GARVAN’S NS NEWS

ATHLETICS – Over 30 children travelled to Enniscorth­y from Caroreigh NS on Thursday last to take part in Co. Wexford primary school sports. All children had a very enjoyable day and Kayleigh Butler took home a sliver medal in the under-eight sprints.

SCHOOL TOUR – All of the pupils in Caroreigh NS went on the school tour on Tuesday last to the ‘Lets Go Sports Camp’ in Waterford. They took part in various adventure and sposting activities and all had a really good day.

ATHLETICS CLUB NEWS

A fantastic day at the track for day two of the 2018 county championsh­ips. 25 athletes competed taking home a total of 20 medals. 11 of those were deemed as county champions securing gold for themselves. With an impressive four Silver and five Bronze medals for our Taghmon athletes.

Dearbhla O’Hanlon won gold in the under-16 High Jump and took silver in the 80m hurdles also. Aisling Kelly continued to display her impressive ability taking home four gold medals in the shot Putt, 200m, triple jump and the relay. Kaeleigh Butler was third in the under-nine 300m and also took bronze in the under-nine turbo jav, Emma Creane won Silver in the same competitio­n.

Ben O’Toole was a comfortabl­e winner of the under-13 80m and followed up with a silver medal in the 600m. His sister Chloe also displaying her great sprinting abilities taking Gold in the under-15 200m. Both following up from day one to confirm their class in the sprints.
