Gusserane GAA club members have what it takes on dance floor
MEMBERS of Gusserane GAA club stepped outside their comfort zone to participate in this year’s Strictly Club Dancing event to raise money for the club and it proved to be a fantastic night out.
Six couples took part on the night: Padraic Conway and Sinead Murphy; Breda Rossiter and Nicky Cahill; Adrian Flynn and Anne Marie Blake; Gary O’Grady and Siobhan Kehoe; Liam Dillon and Aoife Ryan, and Jamie Cooney and Tanya McNamara.
Following some intense competition, and adjudication from a judging panel and an audience vote it was Breda and Nicky who emerged victorious.
All of the couples performed to a very high standard and they praised the work of choreographer, Alan O’Brien, who worked with them for 12 weeks leading up to the event. For Siobhan, Nicky and Jamie it was the second time they competed.
The competition was organised by Lorraine O’Neill and Robert Browne, with assistance from the club Chairperson, Michael Whelan.
Speaking to this newspaper Ms O’Neill expressed delight at the success of the night which saw over 350 people in attendance. The competition was held in the Tintern Complex and the management and staff there were also complimented for providing use of the facility for what turned out to be a great night of entertainment.
