BIG DAY FOR LITTLE ONES AT PLAYSCHOOL GRAD CEREMONIES

- By BRENDAN KEANE

CHILDREN ATTENDING a number of local pre-schools enjoyed their graduation ceremonies over the last few days with fabulous sunshine adding to the appeal of the events.

The children in Maple Tree Playschool, Ballyanne, Tus Maith, Poulpeasty, Abu Montessori, New Ross, Tintern Community Pre-school, Sugradh Childcare Centre, Ramsgrange, and Horeswood Childcare Centre were among those acknowledged for having completed their preparation for ‘ big school’.

Complete with cap and gowns the children were presented with certificates to mark their time in their respective facilities and best wishes were conveyed on them ahead of their entry into primary education in September.

The importance of the experience children have in pre-school can go a long way in making the transition into primary school easier.

The graduation ceremonies also give the children a sense of purpose and contribute to their overall confidence and well-being.

The events also provided very proud moments for the parents and guardians as they got to see the children rewarded for their hard work. The curriculum in pre-schools is nowadays very broad and that fact was outlined to the parents during the ceremonies. In addition to giving them a firm basis on which to build their future education path attending pre-school also gave the graduates a firm grounding in social interaction with people their own age and that will serve them well in ‘ big school’.
