Bettyville to stage Friday racing meet

THE FIRST Friday evening meeting at Bettyville, Wexford, since April 6 takes place there this week (July 6), and the seven-race National Hunt card opens at 5.20 p.m. while the last is off at 8.45 p.m.

It is quite an attractive card well supported by sponsors and features three hurdles, three chases and the concluding bumper, with €84,000 in prize money on offer. The forecast is quite good and it should be a good night’s sport. The card is:

6.25 p.m. - The Mary Barry’s Seafood Bar (Phone 053-9135982) €10,500 Handicap Hurdle (rated 80-95), over 2m;

7.00 p.m. - The Brendan Cullimore Electrical Novice Steeplecha­se of €15,000, over 2m;

7.35 p.m. - The Flood Ironworks Ltd. Beginners Steeplecha­se of €12,500, over, 3m 1f;

8.10 p.m. - The Michael Moore Mercedes-Benz & Volkswagen, Portarling­ton & Athlone Handicap Steeplecha­se of €12,500 (Rated 0-109), over 2m 4f;

8.45 p.m. - the same sponsors look after the closing bumper of €10,500, over 2m 2f.
