GREYHOUND RACING

-

THE WHITEWOOD Unraced sweepstake featured on Monday night’s card at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track, and there was a fine turn-out in glorious weather condition.

Some hot performances were produced on track also, with some very promising youngsters on show.

Fastest winner came in number five of the six heats when the Henry Kelly (Co. Carlow)-owned Hard Luck James was a very impressive six-length victor in an extremely good 28.77.

Another to catch the eye was Bandicoot Turbo in heat one. Overcoming the trap six draw, he went on to beat Cill Dubh Style by two lengths in 28.94.

Heat three saw Hard Luck James’ full brother, Karlow Mike, score by seven lengths for the WKC syndicate (Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow)-owned runner, recording a nice 29.04 win.

The Paul Whelan (Enniscorthy)-owned Blue Cheese took heat four, getting the better of Luminous Joker by half a length in 29.37.

The second round this week will be very good as several runners missed the break and others met with trouble, so there will be improved performance. As always, this is what makes these stakes and draws a big crowd.

Racing had to be put back an hour on Thursday night as welfare has to be top priority at all times for runners as the heat wave continues.

There was a huge crowd in attendance for the Ferns gala race night who enjoyed some very good racing.

These nights at the dogs are a great way of raising funds for deserving causes.
