ANNUAL PATTERN

This year the Duncannon annual Pattern (blessing of the graves) will be held on this Saturday, July 7, starting in the Glasís Cemetery (between the Fort Main Gate and the Quay) at 6.15 p.m.; Old Cemetery (beside the Fort Conan Hotel) at 6.30 p.m.; and the New Cemetery (beside the church) after 7 p.m. Mass.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Next monthly meeting is on July 2 in St Louis Day Care Centre at 2.15 p.m. Come along for a chat with new and old friends over a cup of tea and a bun. New members welcome.

GOLF CLASSIC – St James GAA will be running their bumper weekend of fundraisin­g activities starting with their annual golf classic in the New Ross Golf Club on July 13 – A team of four costs €140 including a post-round dinner. Contact Noel Holohan to book a time or to sponsor a green/tee box at 086 8658093.

BARN DANCE – The day after the golf, July 14, they will be having their ‘much anticipate­d’ barn dance in its new location, Clonsharra­gh. Get your check shirts and cowboy hats ready because this is an event not to be missed. Music on the night will be by the Gentlemen Callers and DJ afterwards. Tickets cost €10 and can be bought in Flood’s Centra, Ramsgrange. Hope to see you there.

LOTTO – There was no winner of the €5,900 jackpot in the draw held on Tuesday, June 26. The winning numbers were 6, 17, 19 and 31. St James’ Club had one match-three winner; Rosanne Nolan, Clonsharra­gh, who won €30. The jackpot for the next lotto draw on July 10, will be €6,200. Lotto tickets are available from committee members and local shops and pubs.

TEA/COFFEE MORNING

Senior citizens Concern CLG is hosting a tea or coffee morning in St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange, from 9 a.m. to midday on Sunday, July 22. All are welcome and your support is greatly appreciate­d.

DUNCANNON FC AGM

Duncannon FC is holding its AGM in Strand Tavern, on Friday, July 6, at 8.30 p.m. All parents, coaches, players and anyone looking to get involved in the club is urged to attend.

DUNBRODY ABBEY MASS

There will be a Mass in Dunbrody Abbey on Sunday next, July 8, at 10.30 a.m. (weather permitting). The theme of the celebratio­n is ‘Our Christian Heritage – from history to hope’. Parking will be in the Dunbrody visitor centre across the road from the Abbey. There will be limited parking in the Abbey grounds for people with limited mobility only please. Tea, coffee and scones will be available at a reduced rate in the coffee shop after Mass.

KILLAG SHOW

LADIES GOLF SOCIETY

In glorious sunshine 31 Abbey Ladies played their 6th competitio­n in Abbey Par 3. Despite clashing with the Captain’s Mixed in New Ross and other competitio­ns, we had a great turnout. The course was in superb condition, thanks to Ned and Frank. After enjoyable golf games the ladies returned to the clubhouse to the whiff of BBQ food catered for by Frank, yummy, delicious. Thanks to Frank and Kylie his helper serving the food.

Great scores were returned to the excitement of all: 1st Eileen Mullally, (36) 45pts. 2nd Esther Finn, (22) 39pts. 3rd Eileen Wallace (17) 38pts. Category 1 Dympna Molloy, (15) 36pts. Category 2 Mary(H) Murphy (27) 38pts. Category 3 Pauline Byrne (35) 34pts. Visitor’s Prize Mary McNamara, 33pts. Congratula­tions and well done girls!

BLUEBELL CAFÉ

The Bluebell Café takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in ‘The Tea Room’ at St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange.

The Bluebell Café is open to people with dementia, their partners, carers, families and friends. Meet others with similar experience­s, enjoy a cup of tea and a chat, and speak with health and social care profession­als and other experience­d volunteers.

CAMPILE BINGO

There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approximat­ely being paid out each night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each night. We welcome each and every one senior citizens, young and children alike to try it and enjoy a great night out and win some money into the bargain.
